Sport?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I have never seen anthing like this! I'm getting two different colored blooms off of ONE plant at the same time. They do not open dark and turn lighter, this is the color they stay the whole time. It is Cherry Smoke, am I getting a sport?
beth

the lighter bloom is what Ness's Cherry Smoke is SUPPOSED to look like.

Both flowers right now look like Sproting. Is it first bloom ?
There are a few threads here in forum with mine and other person forget who plant blooming different colors ! I love the fun Sprot surprises.
Yes if the plant is blooming or foliage different it is Sporting.
I will try to find the thread and also picture of my Ness' Cherry Smoke.
Your foliage is looking tight and one leaf damage you may concider removing it. If it under lights close ?? What size pot ?

This is one of my fun plants Sport of B-man's Etnea I think it is. I will find more and thread. These blooms are on same plant .

I'm still looking for the fun plant thread where plant blooms are different, I have seen it often mostly with Fantasy bloomers.
But here is a picture of one of my Ness' Cherry Smoke I gave many sets of leaves and plants away of this one. Great plant who else is growing it ??

Ness' Cherry Smoke (D. Ness) Semidouble-double white pansy/cherry ruffled edge. Light green, quilted. Standard
Beth your bloom to the right look most like Ness' Cherry Smoke
You may want to groow your plant removing any damaged foliage. That one leaf for sure front right. Your plant might be in a pot too large and may be getting too much light, or need more nitrogen , or have fertilizer overdose.

The leaf that looks damaged just has a little Captan dust on it because I thought I saw fungus growing there. The yellow ones I will remove. I think the leaf is okay but I'll keep an eye on it. I am having some tight crown issues so I have reduced the lighting, but it will take a while to resolve.

Glad to see mine isn't the only plant that is confused!

I also just had a sprout from a Midnight Valentine leaf, and it is blooming already! Is this common on such a tiny plant?

It's pretty common with healthy babies and good growing conditions says Rob from Violet Barn :)) When I first learn to grow from Local Av group and so I I use to take all buds off until plants were full grown. Grow to show and others says do not dis-bud trailers though. Also when disbudding don't pull off cut it leaving a tiny tip this way a new bud will grow on each side.
BUT now life is short and blooms are so pretty I let them bloom away I don't take them off anymore :))

Well now baolvera that is really something. You must have one heck of a green thumb.I can't wait to see what it looks like when it opens all the way.I have never had that happen for me : ( Oh and I fully agree with Allison,I just can't bear to disbud mine anymore even though I know I probably should..Life indeed is too short and I want to enjoy every bloom I can while I still can : )

I love it when they do this. I think it was Unltra violet Flash leaves Jan sent me the babies rooted fast ended up with 4 or more good size babies in the little cup and they each had big pretty flowers :)) I posted while back.
Then I had a CNA who wanted to learn how to grow Avs by leaf. Everytime she ever did they would rot. So I gave her solo cups labled with holes, and named leaves , plastic box, gallon of our good home made soil-less mix Hubby use to make.
She was so please for the first time she grew many babies. and a few bloomed like yours . That was another fun surprise for her :))

Thanks Laura she took many pictures and brought them to show me. Was not long she wanted more leaves ! First set she had 16 different named ones all cups fit into box. Next leaves gave her more different names and larger plastic box. Hubby you to make this great soil-less mix loved it we sold some to help us aford to use it. She loved the gallon free she bought ten gallons to re-pot all her house plants :))
