My Mother, who is elderly and lives with me.... wants to make some hot chocolate. She says none of the dry box mixes "taste right" -- LOL -- She tells me her Aunt - who was a wonderful cook - used to make hot chocolate that was thick and rich and "really had flavor"
I have looked in quite a few of my books, but have not come up with much. She says she saw Ina Garten -- or it may have been Martha Stewart -- make some using a really good quality chunk chocolate, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla... maybe some cinnamon. We have a candy store in our town that has really good chocolate where I could buy the chunk chocolate....or there are the bars available now in most groceries... I know I won't spell this right.. Ghiralidi??
We don't care about calories on this one... it would be one of those special treat things.
She would also be interested in a home made version of the box mix stuff ... maybe to mix into milk and heat in microwave? She does not like Nestle Quick very well. She's thinking Hershey Special Dark Cocoa, sugar... but with what else? There are no recipes on the boxes of cocoa we have.
Do any of you have a recipe that might work for her?
I know I could search the internet, but I would rather try one that someone else likes and knows, than just pick one from online.
Thanks...
Jules
