I have planted Hamamelis 'Arnolds Promise' and wonder if I have anything to pollinate this lovely winter bloomer?
Hey Canada, do we northerners have winter pollinating moths?
I'm thinkin if you want it pollinated you may have to resort to a q-tip....
I am thinkin also that is the only way I will be able to. Unless I can wake up my bees for a short week when it gets warm and they will go back to sleep when I quit pounding on the hive. LOL
Just wondering why you want seeds. Could you do cuttings?
You know that I would be more successful with cuttings but I always enjoy what new genetics appear with my own plants. Just a thing to get me out in the potting shed and green house in the future when I am old and lazy.
From somone a little warmer who's grown H. "Arnold's Promise" for sometime now, I can't say that even we have a pollinator. Come to think of it, I don't even know if I've seen seeds on it. Not to say it's sterile; just to lend an observation. Keep on trying. That's the only way we'll know!
Yes I am waiting for the above moth people to email me to get info. So we shall see. Right now being the first year I am only guessing on what time of year it will bloom.
