This is absolutely gorgeous, BUT
Kerr hasn't got this listed on his website. Is it a new seedling not yet in commercial production, or is the hybridizer listed wrong?

This is what the AIS register has on this cultivar:

BIG APPLE

(Frederick Kerr, R. 2004), Sdlg. 97-035B. TB, 40" (102 cm), M
"S. and style arms near burgundy-black; F. slightly lighter, hafts reddish brown; beards brown, dark burgundy at end. Classic Bordeaux X 94-041-1: (Court Martial x 89-050-5: (Red Lion x Samurai Warrior)). "

Perhaps Fred Kerr doesn't list ALL of his iris on his website? The AIS register shows 111 iris registered by him.

He's got it in his catalog this year listed under 2005 introductions for 10.00.
The blooms are huge on it.

Beautiful, thanks for taking the time to post the picture.

I tried to get it from him this year but it seems to have been sold out, I will cross
my fingers for next season!

That is just beautiful!

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try for it next year, too - I almost got an order to him this year, but ran out of $$ before I put Keppel's catalogue down!!

Already have several similar: Wearing Rubies, Code Red. But Big Apple looks too yummy to pass up. I LOVE reds.

was just looking in the AIS checklist, and I see this one was not introduced by Kerr but by the Tall Bearded Iris Society. Interesting!
