white ibis

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

Last summer, this young white ibis was shot with a target arrow. It showed up at a retention pond, just north of Daytona Beach, FL.,hanging with a group of ibis and snowy egrets. For nearly a month, rescuers tried to net it, but it was able to elude them. It is hoped that the arrow eventually worked itself out, and the bird was OK. Strange but true. This photo was in the Daytona, FL., News Journal.

Oh how sad. :-(

The poor thing. It is too bad that birds (well, most animals) cannot figure out when we are trying to help them and not eat them.

I'd love to get hold of the person who would do such a cruel thing.

oh just makes you want to slap someone up side the head. Sure hope it made it o.k.

How awful and sad! ;-(( I hope that bird is ok now and well

Bsharf,

Do you know if rescuers from the Suncoast Seabird Santuary on the Gulf coast of FL (Indian Shores) came and tried to help?

I believe that it was a local wildlife rescue group.

I saw a blue jay with a dart through its head in my back yard - on several different days. When I tried to get help, I was told there was no way they could capture it, and it would die when they removed the dart anyway. It made my heart break to watch it.

literally makes me sick to my stomach - what kind of people would derive pleasure from such an act? I console myself with "what goes around, comes around."

Amen !! to that murmur !
