Hubby and I went to Tucson today on a shopping expedition and I lucked out and found this nice full 6 inch pot of variegated Dischidia Vidalii, and at a reasonable price of $12! When we got back the other Vidalii that I got from HD seed pod had opened; I was able to get some seeds which I now have on a wet paper towel in a plastic baggie, let's just hope they root!!

Awanda
Variegated Dischidia Vidalii
Wow, what a nice full plant for the price, well what in the heck were ya doing out shopping without me? Darn it anyway. Variegated too, you scored girl. My fingers are crossed for your new seedlings :)
nice score!!!
Nice plant! However, I am wondering if maybe this is dischidia oiantha? I have a variegated one and it looks just like your plant. Hmmm....
Kim
Congratulations Awanda. Awesome plant.
Patti
Kim you're right, I think I had the other dischidia stuck in my head, especially since the seed pod had opened!!
Blessings,
Awanda
Sure looks like D. oiantha to me, too. Good looking plant!
Nice score, Awanda!!
That's great, Awanda. What did the seed pod look like?
Mark the seed pod(s) look just like the ones on hoyas. I found another seed pod today, I'll take a picture of it when I get back home.
Blessings,
Awanda
I have 'raised' a couple of seed pods off the D. vidalii...One batch came true to the plant and another batch were really wierd. It 'selfs' really easily!!!!

Oh what a pretty Hoya .... love those leaves! What a find for $12 .... I think I need to go on a shopping vacation to Arizona!
Lin
p.s. with a BIG truck .... :)
Lin,
I'm sure your husband has connections, you could fly down in a cargo plane, just think of the haul.. :)
Oh how I wish my hubby had connections! Yeah, he is a professor at an Aeronautical University and teaches all that stuff about airplanes, but he gets no special deals! LOL. Wouldn't that be nice ... I could easily fill a cargo hold on an airplane if I could afford that many plants! I could even carry some on board! I didn't even know they would allow you to carry live plants on board a commercial liner til I flew to Atlanta in October to visit my little sister and here's this lady walking through the concourse with a fairly large plant ... tall .... in front of her face ... I just had to stop and ask her about it. She said they had no problem with her taking it on board! She had been on vacation and found the plant and bought it and carried it right on the plane with her!
Lin
p.s. "Wonder if they would let me have a couple of those overhead bins, just for plants"!
Lin...just tell them you want the bins for hoyas.... I'm sure they will understand! :~)
Hey..Awanda....
Did you find that baby at HD?
My knee is almost well enough to start driving again...and I'm sooooo plant hungry....
Maybe they have 'em here in Phoenix someplace??????????????????????
I want....I want.......
Sharon, who hasn't had a new plant in MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sharon I found this at Mesquite nursery in Tucson last weekend!
Blessings,
Awanda
