CLOSED: Tarahumara White Sunflower seeds for Trade or SASBE

Perris, CA(Zone 9a)

I have several seeds of Tarahumara White Sunflowers for either trade or SASBE. Each package is about 20 seeds. They are heirloom seeds. They were brought by the Mennonites to Canada. Somehow the seeds made it to the Tarahumara Native Americans of the Arizona and northern Mexico areas. The Tarahumara Indians are the ones that will walk hundreds of miles to marry and visit relatives. Let me know if you want any of these seeds.

Thanks,

Chuck

Am I too late? I've never heard of a white sunflower.I could offer you moonflower seeds or cotton seeds or SASBE. Drop me a line. hudy

Perris, CA(Zone 9a)

Uncle Hudy, Let em clear up any misunderstanding right at the start. The sunflower flowers are NOT white. The seeds are white, although occasionally there is a striped seed.

Let me know if you are still interested.

Thanks,

Chuck

I hope that no one was under the impression that the flowers of this plant were white. They are actually yellow with brown centers and 8 inches to 10 inches wide. This has been a lot of fun to grow and, I found that at our house, we gave it rich soil with a little extra coffee grounds from Starbucks (it's free) and it grew to 12 feet last year. We have grown this for three years now and everytime has been an experience and a pleasant one at that.

Thanks,

Chuck

Chuck,

Sorry it took so long to get back. I lost track of this thread. I did find out that the flower was not white after a little investigation. Since then I have purchased several different colors that should satisfy my desire for something a little different. But thanks for the offer.

Hudy

Yes, if you were looking for a white sunflower flower, this is definitely not the cultivar for you. Have you tried Johnny's Seed Catalog? They have an entire section devoted to Sunflowers. Then there is a table of sunflower comparisons with many cultivars of sunflowers on Page 139.

Thanks,

Chuck Bernard
