thats odd because here in SC they grow fine with little damage, while we are classified as an 8b location, most winters are like 9a. we have had below 27, although not this year, and they seem to be real happy. maybe yours just wasnt ready for the cold. hopefully yours will do better and recover!
They got scorched/killed all over the valley, including some beautiful groves of very old plants... so it's not just my plants- everyone's here.
I wish my looked that good.LOL I live in Stockton, CA and I had 20 plants that did very well the first two years but like Southern Ca. we got hit hard by a freeze. Every plant dropped their leaves. I'm so sad. Does Anyone know if they come back or do I need to replant?

Almost all the ones here in So Cal will come back... though none are yet.. but they will. As long as the 'trunk' is not soft and squishy, it should grow new leaves again
