I'm bummed!
My neighbor came over today with a little owl that had broken it's neck in a collision with his living room window. I was surprised it had been hunting in the daytime, as I knew it wasn't a pygmy owl. We've ID'd it as a western screech owl, due to the small size and the little "ear" tufts.
Why do you suppose this little guy was hunting in the full daylight hours? It has been cold here with snow on the ground for several days, but today got up to about 40.
owl mishap ;-(
poor little guy. Sorry I have no answer for you
I am no expert on owls but I have a friend that rehabs raptors...I would call her but she is in the hospital with a broken hip...and if I recall correctly, Owls will search for food at anytime, day or night.
so sorry that happened,
ducky
I feel bad for that little Owl also. ;-((
