They weren't calling for snow but we're getting quite a bit of it. The suet feeder is very busy.
First day of Snow
Great shot Pelle!
Didn't know that Juncos ate suet! Great pic!
Marilyn, I was really shocked to see them crowding around to get at it. Thanks , its very dark out and hard to get decent pics.
Pelle,
More great photos!
Looks like there's a female Cardinal, a Carolina Wren, at least 2 Juncos, a White Throated Sparrow and looks like, (gasp!) Purple Finches! Wow! Wish we had Purple Finches here! Great selection of birds!
Thanks for sharing.
Marilyn
Wonderful photos!!! And now that our snow is gone out here, the Thrush are no longer after the suet, nor are the Juncos - doggone!!! They're on the ground, of course, but nearly as easy to photograph there.
Almost Marilyn, their male House Finch not Purple Finch. Wish I did get Purple Finch. But then it would be confusing for me.
great Shots Pelle. you would know the Purplefinch when you saw it. They are red/purplish all over
I feel silly to think they were the Purple Finches. Now that I look at the photo again and read the comments, yes they look just like them. We get the House Finches too. DUH! ;-))
Marilyn
Pelle, great photos! Your grass is GREEN! :)
What kind of suet did you use? Did you buy it or did you make it? Great shots.
Its plain beef suet and I bought it. This is the only type that the squirrels and starlings aren't interested in.
Did you buy it ready to put in the feeders, or did you have to wrangle with it?
No I just took the plastic and label off, left it in the plastic square tub and put it in.
Heres the type I bought..
