Humidity experiment

Silver Spring, MD

Hey, everyone. I unpacked our humidifier and set it up in the plant room. The % humidity when I started was 33. It is now up to 34 in about 10 minutes. I have it set to turn off at 50. I'll check every day to see what happens. Hope I don't grow mold. I don't think I will; just being silly.

I have left the door to the room open to allow the humidity to go to the rest of the house.

Give suggestions, please.

Yay! Humidifiers rock.

Many people say about 40-45 is their preferred RH if humans and paper are in the same space. I let mine just run, though - our heat is so dry, the moment it turns on the RH plummets.

Well, it's been one hour and the humidity is up to 37%. I can breath better in the room with the humidifier so I guess the plants are happier. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

Here's an interesting bit of information. The humidity in the room stays higher and most constant with the ceiling fan on. I thought the air movement would reduce the humidity.

Ceiling fans are great we have them in each room and use them year round . Humidity is important ! Humidifiers are Super ! I know you an your plants will be happy ~
