Had to take down 3 feeders due to Starling problems so I moved this feeder to the shepherds hook. Makes for closer pics anyway. Red Bellied Woodpecker

Another. Very cold today but at least the sun was out.

What a great selection of birds in your backyard Pelle! The Red-Bellied is such a handsome fellow! I like the gnome too :)

Thanks amylen. There were a lot of other birds too. That gnome is supposed to be swinging from the tree but his rope rotted. Hopefully now that this feeder is back in the center of the yard I'll see more of the female Red Bellied.

I like that feeder the woodpecker is on. Nice shots

Thanks Donna.

Pelle,

Great photos!

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Excellent pics as always, Pelle! Do you get the Hairy Woodpeckers as well as the Downeys?

Blythe, CA(Zone 10b)

I wish my woodpeckers would come down from the trees. They always hang out so far up there you can hardly see them, let alone get a picture.
Nice pics Pelletory.

We have Hairys in our area but I don't think I've seen one in my yard. I'm hoping to see a Flicker someday.
Better, Have you tryed plain suet hanging from the tree or is it too hot for that?

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Pell, what seed do you have in the feeder that the red bellied woodpecker is eating?

Marlton, NJ

Its a Nut & Berry mix that I add a lot of peanut halves to.

I take out the larger berry pieces and put them in a dish for Mockingbirds or at least in hope of getting a Mock to come closer.

Great - thanks. I'll have to get some of that mix. So far they only come to my suet and peanut butter.
