Hi Woodthrush,
Female Brown Pelican ... Male Brown Pelican
Immature, and adult, respectively - the sexes don't differ, but they do change plumage with age

...love the Great Blue Heron awaiting lunch shot...LOL...
Woodthrush,
Great pics!
Looks like you went to the Suncoast Seabird Santuary, one of our favorite places! I recognize the place in some of your photos.
Where where you on the Gulf Coast near Tampa? We always go to Madeira Beach in January every year. We love it there!

We were at a condo at Indian Shores. Most of the photo's we took on the beach. We didn't even see the sign for the bird sanctuary until our last evening. Every morning and evening the wood storks would fly by the condo balcony. I knew they must be roosting somewhere close by.
We love the area too. Already looking for a rental for next year. We even saw a bald eagle while waiting for a traffic light.
Have you ever gone down to Ft DeSoto at the end of the island? Very nice beach, lots of birds there too.
Pam
Pam,
Yes, we have been there at least 2 times. Great place and a great place to see birds.
Marilyn
Sounds like a nice place to visit, or if you're lucky enought to live. Thanks for sharing !
