Hi All:
I ordered some peppers from Totally Tomatoes which I received yesterday. One of the packets had a label on it indicating it was treated with Thiram. I looked it up on the net and it looks like a nasty substance.
I try to grow as organically as possible. What's the deal with this treatment?
Is it relatively benign or something that should be avoided?
I'd like to know your opinions

Thiram Treated Seed
Personally I get better emergence with treated seeds. It is most noticable for direct seed plants. If you want to be absolutely organic you should probably avoid it. It is a synthesized fungicide, bacteriacide widely used as a seed protectectorant. It is mildly toxic, but so is most everything. Note that it has also been used in lotions and soaps to soothe human skin diseases like scabies.

I actually read the first document last night. The second one was more informative to me.
It's a pepper I really want to grow so I may give it a shot.
