Spiny Oak Slug Moth (Euclea delphinii)
What an amazing picture! I don't think I have ever seen such a creature. I like your other pictures of it as well. It isn't a real slug like the slimy ones we find in wet areas is it? This one appears to be an insect and I don't think the slimy ones are insects.
Hi pajaritomt, sorry I didn't answer to this sooner. This is the "caterpillar" to a moth, so yes it is an insect, not like regular slugs. It's called a 'slug' caterpillar because it doesn't have normal caterpillar 'feet'.......it moves over surfaces like a slug.
