If you live in higher zones like, zone 10 for example, and you plant an indertiminate tomato in the spring, do you have to grow it again in the fall? I'm in Z5 and indertiminate maters are done producing when we get our first frost. What, if any, is the "ending period" for indeterminate tomatoes in the higher zones?
Indeterminate tomatoes in high zones
When I lived in z9b, if I threw a blanket over them on the 1 or 2 days a year that we actually got a frost, they would survive straight through the winter, slowing production in Nov & Dec and picking up production about Feb. In fact, right now would be the time I'd be starting transplants... after a few seasons they tend to sputter out, though, so that even though they will technically live and such, they just aren't really worth keeping that long.
Oh wow, I always wondered how that worked, pretty cool. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
