My guess. Narcissus canaliculatus. I contemplated buying some this year from Brent and Becky. Patti

Its not a rain lily. If you got it from someone's garden locally I'd guess it could be Narcissus 'Avalanche' or 'Seventeen Sisters'; esp if its starting to bloom now.

wow thanks both for your help. canaliculatus or avalanche are excellent possibilities. Both are early bloomers, both have lots of flowers per stem and both are good for warmer climates. I won't be able to evaluate how many flowers, as this cold spell is likely going to cause damage and I won't see their full potentia this season.

my buddy and I each got a couple of bulbs at an old cemetery late last fall. The bulbs were literally pushed out of the ground, like they were asking us to take them... I guess due to our weather bacl then, greens were 6-8" tall. It was a huge clump, at first we thought it was some kind of flower and as we got closer realized it was bulbs out of the ground.

after looking at rainlilies, I realize they have no cups. duh!

If you got them at a local cemetery--that would really be my guess. There are only about 5 species of daffy's that reliably naturalize down here. =)
