I just ran in to this - I am sure a lot of you already ahve done this but I just cannot wait to get in there and get ready for spring.

I will get my bags together this week to find out what I have here.
Free Soil Test
Thank you for the link Mitch, I am sure it will be very useful.
Josephine.
I hope so - if nothing else just to know what I have out there will help me make better choices in plants right?
Thanks, Mitch ! I'm going to do it too.
This is perfect timing. Hope you're staying warm.
Anita
Mitch,
I hate to be a spoil sport but I should mention that two years ago I had free soil tests from them. The results came back that were so bizarre that I figured they had mixed my results with someone else's(not in a blackland prarie). Then last year I collected samples and sent the same samples to Calloway's and to Texas A&M. The reports from A&M were pretty much what I expected. Again the reports from Calloway's didn't look like a reading from my yard.
There's a nursery down here that does that every year, too, and every year I don't get around to doing it. This year I really want to. Thanks for the reminder, Mitch! I hope I get better results than you did, though, Siggy.. :-/
Marilyn,
Which nursery does the free soil testing? I've never had ours done, and It could really help me out. I live near Hobby Airport. Thanks.
Hi, Gymgirl! Cornelius is the nursery that does the testing. I see ads for them every spring that mentions the free testing. I know they have several locations, but I'm not sure exactly where any of them are.... There isn't one really close to me, which is why I've been too lazy to do it so far. But I have one bed that nothing grows really well on and I'm wondering if the problem is the light or the soil..
Thanks, Marylyn_TX! I'll check them out for the springtime.
