Hi all, Here is a pic of a wacky "3 Cats" tile I used to mosaic a pot..needed something colorful to top it...Here is Cryptanthus "Elaine" and pups of C. "Pink Starlight"....just for fun! sue
wacky pot with "crypts"!
Beautiful pot, Sue! :)
Have you ever sold any of your work? I think I've seen something similar either up there or down here, mainly remembering the "crystals"...
~Gina
Gina, thankyou!! i do sell my cottage mirrors in my antique mall. mostly i donate some of the items to my garden club raffles or the Kidney foundation for their fundraisers....you really don't make much of a profit..as mosaics are so time consuming..i keep the pots as they are homes for my succulent and bromeliad collection..i do love to make them, as they require no concentration..sometimes my 85 yr. old mom will make a little one, which is good busy work for her..i do the grouting as it is messy..my least favorite part of the project, but the most important...the "crystals" all come from Walmart in their craft section..(cheapest price around). They are those flower arrangeing glass marble/globs... Anyone can do this it is so easy, you can't make a mistake really! sue
Good morning Sue.
I love you Kitty pot. It is so cute. What do use as glue to hold the tiles in place prior to grouting? I am looking forward to seeing your mother pot too.
Patti
Thanks for the info, Sue :)
Keep up the beautiful work!

Thanks, Gina and Patti, i have a Lowe's near me, so i go there and get "Mapei" premixed Adhesive and Grout the small 1 quart size. get "sanded" for wider grout margins..as shown in my pot...now the directions above the shelves, will tell you it is not for outdoors..but since it is premixed and a small quantity..i use it for outdoor things..once the grout is filling in between the shards and "jewels" the pots are pretty weather proof, even in our rainy humid climate..however my birdbath is falling apart after 5 yrs. of continuous water...i have these pots that are about 5 or 6 yrs. old..i think you can see a couple in the background, they are holding up fine! A good outdoor adhesive must be mixed...too much work for me! By the way i own 3 cats, so when i found that tile for a $1.00 at a garage sale i nabbed it! sue p.s if you want to see some REALLY professional work..go to the DG's Mosaics and Stained Glass forum...awesome talent there!! Plus alot of really good information on how to's...
Sue,
Thank you for your help. I will go tomorrow to HD or Lowes and get me some adhesvie. I have a bunch of broken pottery here , and I just need to push myself . Once I get started there is no stopping me. LOL
We just adopted another cat making it four, so I think safe to say we love cats too.
Patti
How true Patti, getting started is the HARDEST part. (and it is messy...i have been doing mine in my kitchen!!!!)..but then we are like "mosaic madwomen" and i can't stop, even tho my back starts killing me from hunching over!! Go crazy girl and do something really free-style and wacky!! Hope to see your efforts soon! sue
