Picture and story from Nature magazine.

Oak Hill, OH(Zone 6a)

I didn't know where to post this so I picked Tropicals. I didn't take this pic - it's from Nature.com. But I thought it was SOOOO interesting. the entire story is at http://www.nature.com/news/2007/070108/full/070108-10.html

The story is titled "Giant stinker finds place in plant family tree: Pinning down the rotting-flesh plant could reveal the roots of gigantism."

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

Yikes, if that one pops up in my yard I am moving; there are enought stinky things around here already.

Louisville, KY

From what I have heard no one has ever been able to grow this out side of it's natural area. Manly because it is a parasite to a large vine or tree. I have heard of a guy in the country trying to get it to grow along with large bonsai trees. Never heard much else about it. Wonder if he was ever able to get small ones to grow off the bonzai trees?

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

where is it's natural area? the article didn't mention. thanks for sharing woo.

Such a weird and wonderful thing. You never know it's there till it blooms. Wow!
