Caladium for sun?

Wichita, KS(Zone 6a)

I want to order and plant a large row of caladiums this spring. The area is on the west side of a picket fence. Will get sun from about 11am til 6pm at which time the shadow from the house will cover them. I have read that there is a few that can take full sun. What is your opinion? I want to go with a white and/ or red.

Love your home and vine with white flowers . What is the name of it please ?
Sorry I don't have names to help you with .
I have know they are shade lovers, and will brighten up the shady areas of your yard.
But have also read , Site your caladiums where they will receive filtered sunlight, bright indirect light or partial shade. In the hottest areas full shade is fine. Caladiums have big leaves that can be damaged by strong winds, so it's best to plant these tubers in areas with some wind protection
They like rich organic materila soil and well drainage and food too !

A lot of new varieties are coming out with high sun tolerance, but that is quite a bit of sun. Look at some online sources that give good cultural info (like Brent&Becky's) to have an idea which ones are the most sun tolerant. The Tai series are marketed as sun tolerant. You may want to experiment with a few this year to see how they perform, and perhaps fill in with sun coleus or other proven sun lovers. That way you would'nt have a lot invested in case they can't take it. Good Luck!

p.s. 'Red Flash' is one of my very favorites, and it is said to tolerate sun.

in florida hardly anything likes full sun . It is good to experiment , lots of time we move plants if they are not happy.
