When can Waterlilies be placed in pond

Arlington, GA(Zone 8a)

We have these new this year at our local Walmart and I was wondering when would be the best time for putting them in the pond? I did check them and all have healthy looking shoots coming up.
Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

You really need to wait until after the last frost. Mine aren't tropical so I leave them in all year long. They die back but then as soon as the water warms up there they are again. How big is your pond? Each water lily covers about 4-5'.

These all say they are Hardy lilies I have snooped around they are all listed as hardy(thank goodness)
our pond is 4x6x2 it is in the GH. So I don't think frost will be a problem. I think I'm gonna need a bigger pond.lol

Yea I'm afraid you are gonna need a bigger pond. With it being in the gh you should be able to plant one of them now. You could get some of those LARGE waterproof pots and try some in those. Good luck!!!

If you had the room in the GH I would get some large waterproof containers and plant them now. Sitting in those boxes will not do them any good and you may lose them otherwise. When it gets warm enough for you to stand working outside you will indeed have to build a bigger pond to hold them all. The iris will do well if planted in boggy areas so you do not necessarily have to put them right in the pond. You are going to have so much fun with you water garden this summer! :^)
