Kukiat's New Dwarf Seedling

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hey Everyone!

Check this out: The attached pictures show Kukiat's two-and-a-half year old seedling of Dwarf Singapore Pink, which opened for the first time on Dec 31, 2006.

Isn't it amazing? Congratulations, Kukiat!

Here's a pic of the leaves in comparison to a Dwarf Singapore Pink leaf.

In the first picture, Kukiat is holding up a DSP flower for comparison. Here is a close-up of the flower.

This is really quite an achievement to get such an amazing flower on a dwarf tree. The dwarf cultivars are in such high demand because they stay a manageable size for years and years either in a container or in the ground.

I agree mg! LOL!

It's lovely and looks a whole lot like my Orange Dwarf.

Thanks, Hetty. Here is a picture of Dwarf Orange for comparison. This pic belongs to Janet. I could be wrong, but I think Kukiat's seedling has more orange in it.

Yes it does; I meant the petal shape. Very similar. Both are lovely.

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

So where do we line up to get one of those beauties? BTW, how's its fragrance?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Yes, I agree that the petal shape of the flower is similar to Dwarf Orange. Perhaps, Dwarf Orange is a seedling of DSP too -- I'm not sure. I like Kukiat's seedling's leaves in particular. They look very dark and narrow-looking.

LOL, Beverly! We'll have to ask Kukiat about the fragrance. If I'm not mistaken, I think Kukiat will be evaluating his seedlings for a few years to come yet before they are released to the public. After evaluation, some might be registered with the PSA first before release also. Kukiat has so many nice seedlings. Patumthani, Thailand(Zone 11)

Awe, group hug! LOL! You guys are great!

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

Very nice Kukiat,
CONGRATS!!

Geneva, FL(Zone 9b)

The petals are quite a bit wider and more attractive than Dwarf Orange, I think. Also, the dark leaves add a unique contrast. I see a real winner here!

I agree, Brad! In fact, I'm taking special care of all my seedlings with dark leaves like that just in case they turn out to be stunning flowers!

Michael's back! Michael, where have you been? I've missed you and have been hoping that you are well;-)

Hi Clare,
Ive been really busy with school.
Its coming along nicely.
My health is so-so
I have a manageable level of sustained misery lol!
I have had 3 trips to the coast and I cleared up within 12 hrs each time.
Philadelphia pollution is the problem.
Anyway, thanks and I also have several very dark even purple leaved plumies.
Im anxious to see them bloom for sure!!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Michael, I'm glad to hear that you are hanging in there, bud, and doing well in school. I hope you can move from PA soon. I can't wait to see pics of your flowers of the dark-leaved plumies when they bloom. I hope you get lots of flowers this coming season;-)

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I adore the orange dwarf plumie in the first pic.
Clare, on pic you posted on 1/11 at 3:52, that leaf is so narrow it almost looks like an oleander leaf
I am so looking forward to getting my DWP cutting from the tropicals coop.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Nery! How are ya, gal? It is funny you should mention that because oleanders are, in fact, in the same family. That is Kukiat's pic of his seedling leaf versus a Dwarf Singapore Pink leaf, which is the parent of the seedling. I'm told that many Singapore seedlings have this narrow pointed type of leaf, but I must check with Kukiat to confirm this. I know that there are a few species with this type of leaf such as P. filifolia and P. alba. You will love DSP. It is a keeper.

Hey Clare you need to update the link for docs wonderful pics..
Doc should tell spectre to add a redirect to his old link if he can..
Example:
When peeps surf to this url:
it will redirect to this url:
http://webjungles.com/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=42&g2_itemId=5536&g2_GALLERYSID=b518cd6670f66bf6ae99a8fb49846c11

lol i hope that works because the url is base on session id's and i don't know the time limit on the sessions..
However Doc's flickr page is still fine..

Thanks, Robert! I'll update it now. Thanks for catching that.

Davie, FL(Zone 10b)

Clare doc's page in the FAQ is no good..
It needs to be updated..
:)

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Robert. I'll have to change that the next time I update it. I have to ask Terry to open it up now each time that I want to update it so I'll make a note of that and change it next time. I did update it recently though and added some threads of yours.
