I am looking for images of African Violet ROYAL MOUNTBATTEN & LADY MOUNTBATTEN Wasp. Does anyone have pics of these that you could post? Any websites that maybe I could possibly find the images I am looking for? :)
My Wasp collection is steadily growing. :) I love the form of the wasp blooms.

Currently, I have Celery, Blue Owl, Fire Wasp, Blue Tail Fly, Pink Fly, Bustled Bedazzled. . . ummm, Spootnik. I'm sure there are more lol! but this is just some right off the top of my head.
I just did get these this year and so am new to the Wasp, but I just love everything about them.
Oh, I also have Loverly Wasp and Wedgewood Wasp and of course Lady Mountbatten and Royal Mountbatten.
Maybe I should go check my plant room and see what else I have. :) Oh, I also have The Martian and Nymph Fly. Outter Limits, Drucilla, Lunar Lily.
I would love to find leaves of BOL'S EVENING IRJA. It is gorgeous! :)
I hope to keep adding to my collection as time goes by, with some possible leaf trades if anyone is interested in doing some swapping. :)
I'm even going to do some hybridizing I think. That would be fun. :)
I just made my first cross a few weeks ago of a NOID. Its a gorgeous ruffled, medium lavander bloom color that I call "Fin". I put REBEL'S SPLATTER KAKE pollen on it. I have a seed pod! YEAH! Guess I did something right. lol!

I see Royal Mountbatton Sport is for sale on Ebay if you bought this one it's most likley not going to bloom true .
I have a thing about buying leaves, seeds, plants not just African violets that there is not a bloom picture then I wonder if the Vendor has grown this plant to a successful true blooming plant , was the plant hard to grow ? Sometimes this is impossible the grower may not have a Camera , or the room to grow them out to bloom true if they are growing so many different ones by seed or leaf depending on the type of plant. JUst me I want to know what I'm buying .
I did not see LADY Mountbatton Wasp in FC. Neither could I find a photo of either.
I would ask the grower/seller if they have a photo of the blooms !
tigit do you have some pictures of all your Wasp plants your growing ! I'd enjoy seeing them please :)) I use to grow many Wasp plants but gave them all away .

Allison, I was checking my records and I do indeed have a sport of RMB. It has the variegated leaf. Quite lovely I think. Makes me wonder what it will look like. :) I am really anxious to see it bloom.
I don't have any pics of my plants, but intend to start taking some when they start blooming good.
And thanks for your congrats. It will most definitely be fun watching my first cross grow out. I just really don't like the time I'm gonna have to wait for the seed pod to mature though. lol!

I wonder if anyone is growing out the Sport of Royal Mountbatton ( FC spells it with an "O" ) three generations to see if it is stable and to name and register it which also take time. A good two years some hybridizers grow them out 5 generations but three is requiered to register. Mom plant does not count. You most grow by leaf of Mom leaf plant to blooming anf foliage true, then a leaf by this Mom plant, then a leaf from this Mom plant all must bloom true and foliage true and be better and different than origninal plant. Then you can register it !

The new cross will be exciting. These are both such pretty flowers and they can't help but produce something really pretty. :) (I'm trying to be optimistic. lol!)
I'm like a little kid at Christmas. I can't wait to see whats in the 'packages'. Everytime I receive a new box of AVs, I just have to get that thing opened up. . . NOW! Its so exciting! And here I am an adult with my first grandbaby. hehe!
I really don't know anything about Royal Mountbatton besides what you sent and the person I bought the plant from. Apparently they did not have any pics. At least they didn't post one. The discription they gave was the one for RMB itself. I guess time will tell.

Hope all is well with you:)The wasps are doing fine.There under the lights and kept warm.There growing well, Bedazzled had its first flower.Its so cute. And Vespa Veid has a flower about to open.I have managed NOT to kill one of them.LOL. I need to get batteries for the camera.

I always wanted Bol's Evening Irja its a real nice wasp. I got one in a plant trade last year or so but it was dead on arrival :((
I do have pictures some with flowers of the Av's I got from the gift cert. from Eunice ! With my free plant I got 6 plants ! I did order variegated or girl leaf this time. But a couple I really wanted I had to change as they did not have . I'll have to get them out of my camera. Of course I always seem to have a blooming Cygnet !

All Allison's fault eh? lol! I am trying to remember whos fault it is that I got the AV Wasp Bug. lol!
I was just trying to remember the first time I saw a wasp blossom. I knew then I really wanted to start collecting them though. Anything different and unusual usually falls onto my 'want' list pretty quick.
I think the wasp is the reason I decided I wanted to try my hand at hybridizing AVs. I have been wondering though, if a wasp crossed with, say a star form, would you get any wasp in the first generation. . . or would the resulting offspring from the cross have to be crossed back with the parent plants in order to start getting wasp blooms? Just pretty much thinking outloud. :)
Send me a list sometime and maybe we can do some leaf swapping in a few weeks. (Makes me feel closer to spring:)
By the way Allison, thanks for correcting the spelling on Royal Mountbatton. :) Maybe that is one reason I haven't been able to find an image of it. . . wrong spelling. :
Oh, I have Vespa Verde too, by way. Can't wait to see it bloom.

I've grown now 12 or so Vespa Verde by leaf . Two different leaf sets year or too apart. It's the cutiest variegated green and white wasp plant I do love it !
Can't wait to see yours and Jan's bloom too ! Mine does have a double bud second time but mine does not get much light just natural and our homes windows don't get much light but that's Ok it's fun growing it !
Date's Wasp Strain is the only one with bustled foliage. This is the one that David Senk used and pretty sure Tina Moreno,
So if you want to progate a good wasp use a dates wasp parent. Now you can never register it without written permission from both original hybridizers or their heirs but you can name it and put in FC without registering it.
David told in an interview about how he gets the wasp flower. I'll find the story .
