Passifloras in Containers Advice Please

St. Paul, MN(Zone 4b)

Hello All.

Both Passiflora incarnata and Passiflora 'Lady Margaret' did great last year in my garden. I had them in 12" pots with tomato cages and they bloomed up a a storm for most of the summer. For the 2007 gardening season, I am planning to set up an additional six species/varieties the same way. My tentative list so far is 'Blue Bouquet', 'Purple Haze', mollissima, 'Indigo Dreams', 'Constance Elliot' and 'Incense'. I need to get cuttings rooted soon if they are to be ready to pot up for the garden in April/May.

Here is my question: Is there any benefit to potting up more than one plant in a 12" pot? Will I end up with a better show from two or three plants, or will the competition actually inhibit growth and flowering?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Erick,
I always plant 3 to a 10inch pot or larger, cept the giant plants like quadrangularis types.

Thank you very much Kyle.

How many Godzillas can someone get in a pot? :-)
I usually do one plant to a 3 or 7 gallon pot (depending on variety).
I have to do this. By the time Summer is over, I'm living in a jungle. I simply have to know who's who when it's time to prune.
