Have these for trade -tempt me
CLOSED: Acanthus mollis-Bear's Breeches
I have tried to grow these but to no avail. Someone said I should try some bigger plants. Is that true?
Any ideas about growing these in Ohio (warm humid summers and cold, wet winters) would be appreciated.
I have several types of perennials and I have many elephant ears.
Let me know.
PS I won't want to trade until April. OK?
What zone are you in Rox? Many Acanthus are very cold hardy.
I heard zone 7 and up....I can wait till spring-Or i can send now
i have mine in most shade which is filtered and they love it,it is up against the house so mine dont really freeze because it is on the side the chimney and woodstove is on.lol but it hasnt really gotten cold here in like 4 years or so.so make sure you dont put them in full sun, they like partial and if you have to give them direct sun give them the morning and not the evening
i hope this helps

From 2 different sources, one says zone 8-10. PDN says zones 6-8. That's a pretty big diiference between the two refs. I have had some for 2 years with no bloom. Don't beleive I've gotten positioning right and will move it again this year.
i saw that with zones as well
Sorry to piggyback, maine, hope you and Rox do trade.
Not a problem-smiles -robin
Oh, oh. I am barely zone 6a. I could try a microclimate near the house, which is brick.

Do you grow yours inside part of the year? [I noticed you are in Zone 4a.]
