For anyone in the DFW area, Mike's Garden supply is having a pre-inventory sale: 50% off everything in the store (plants and everything else!). The sale is until Sunday. I went to the one off 114 in Soutlake, but I know that there are several area locations.
I picked up a Contorted Filbert for $35, a Goshiki Osmanthus for $12, some Christmas stuff, organic gardening supplies, and a few pots.

50% off sale
Hey Dennis! - Do you think you can get Mike's Garden to deliver? :)
We have a couple of places in Houston that offer 70% Off in October thru this time since pumpkins and Christmas trees are higher ticket for the real estate. I try to buy all my large pots and large shrubs at 50% to 70% discount. It just takes lots of patience and planning. I will take garden center sales over mall sales - ANY DAY!! Enjoy your sale shopping!
where is this? in dallas? did they have perennials? and the contorted filbert.........is that harry lauder's walking stick?
There are a couple of Mike's Garden Centers around Dallas. Here is a link showing their locations:

Yes, a contorted filbert is a Harry Lauder's Walking Stick. Does anyone have any experience with these plants in Texas? How will it take the heat? The tag showed that it was hardy down to zone 9.
Boy, that was a bargain on the filbert! I've wanted one for some time, but the couple of times I've seen them locally, they were over $100.00 for one about 4 to 5 feet tall. I didn't want to spend that much without knowing for sure it could take our high heat and humidty.
I know what you mean. The cheapest I had seen one was $100 before now. And this one is almost 3 feet tall. Not too bad. :)
