New Pictures of My African Violets

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

I have been taking pictures of my african violets this afternoon and will post the ones in bloom. Allison gave me several of these. I have had a run of bad luck and lost quite a few...but have just over the last few weeks set them up on stands with lights, wicks, and an even temperature. They appear to be enjoying their new environment.

I have several more I uploaded, but they have not yet appeared. I sent a note to "contact us" thinking I did something wrong. Have not heard back as of yet.

Deb, the plants are beautiful and very healthy looking. What ever you are doing now, keep it up. What have you done to keep an even temperature?

Deb your plants are beautiful :)) You sure can grow them ! Can't wait to see more ! Thanks for sharing I do so much enjoy seeing them ! Happy New Year !
I got six plants from Bluebirds Saturday from Gift Cert for Christmas from Eunice I took pictures will show soon !

Deb last year all the leaves you had down how did they do ? Did you get many babies ?

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Allison, most of the leaves I put down produced babies...many babies. I potted them up and many of them died...I just did not have them placed in the best growing environment. There have been many trials and errors on my part and unfortunately I have lost many plants and babies through my learning experience.

I now have all my african violets on stands with lights. They are in my furnace room that also includes my hot water heater. I have the lights turned on for twelve hours a day, and the temperature stays around 72 -74 degrees, with the humidity at around 50 percent. This has been a good move and I look forward to increasing my collection.

Sounds like your doing good now Deb ! Glad you still have a lot of beautiful plants ! You now have provided a perfect environment for your plants :))

What a great idea! They bennefit from the heat of the furnace and the hot water heater and your utility bills don't go sky high.
