This is a flowering Quince bush in my front yard. It's supposed to bloom in the Spring, but because of the unusually mild weather it is now full of buds and blooming. It is only January 7th! I am in Rhode Island and besides the flowering quince I noticed wild violets looking like they are going to make an unscheduled appearance too. We should be frozen solid at this time of year. This is very unusual for January in New England!
Can you believe this in January?
I haven't even had time to look around the yard but I did notice driving in that my Witchhazel Jelena already has 2 blooms open.
I'd forgotten it did bloom at the end of Jan last yr also. I just hope we aren't going to pay for all this mild weather with a long drawn out cold spring. o(
Your grass looks exceedingly happy for January also.
Pretty little bush, by tthe way.

Tons of my daffs are several inches out. This morning I saw a couple of 10 inchers blooming!
all my bulbs are pushing through! I know we are going to pay a price for this in some way!
You will have to pay a price and it is $9.98. Everyone can send that to me. (I'm in the exchange)
I have daffodils emerging all over the yard. Sigh . . . I sure hope we get snow before we get some serious cold.

Next Wednesday and Thursday it's supposed to be bitter cold. At least the first month of winter was a pleasure.
Dave, you'd better pick your daffys for a nice bouquet. It was downright chilly here this morning and tomorrow they predict single digit lows.
This is one slow moving storm.
Meant to pick'em today but I got pulled in another direction.
It is snowing here in downeast maine. I hope it helps all the confused plants and puts them to sleep. I wish for an early spring to get gardening again
39spiderhill,
It just started snowing here too, yesterday it snowed off and on all day but didn't really leave much. Today is supposed to be a different story, DS is excited to see what we get in the way of inches. He's been waxing his snowboard for a trip to Sugarloaf U.S.A. and the more snow we get, the happier he is! I suppose if I was 19 again i'd feel the same way, but i'm not......and I don't!! LOL
