Boy was my face RED!!!

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

Payne had his yearly check-up and shots today. When I sent Dr. F a Christmas card this year I included a packet of Leonotis seeds that I had collected. Guess I should have included some info as well. I chose Leonotis to honor Rhodie, our Rhodesian Ridgeback who went to Rainbow Bridge in March...Leonotis..Leo the Lion...RRs are called the Lion Dogs of Africa...good logic. Well I mentioned the seeds and told him how pretty the flowers are and how to carefully harvest the seed if he wanted to. Dr. F gets this BIG grin on his face, crosses his arms accross his chest, looks me dead in the eye and asks if I was trying to tell him something.? Do what??? Says he'll be right back. He had done a search of Leonotis and printed it out. Back into the exam room he comes..all smiles..and procedes to read the print out. Seems some varieties are mildly narcotic. Others were used by the Iroquois as a plant infusion for a nerve tonic,as a digestive aid and in many rituals. Now heres the kicker and I'm quoting from the print out. "Leonotis leonurus (Wild Dagga) is used in an East African "spell" where it is ingested by males to gain the qualities of a lion, in particular its renowned sexual prowess." OMG!!! He's laughing, my dh is laughing, the vet tech is laughing and I'm laughing the whole while and turning BEET RED...which naturally made everyone laugh even harder. That'll teach me!! At least NOW he knows he's to take the seeds home and plant them. LOL
