I'm going to be a basket case this summer!!!

Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

Well due to the wind storm we ended up taking out 14 trees in our yard. They have to just let the tree chunks fall where they will, and of course right on my flower beds!!!! :(
I lost several lovely azaleas(one the centenial), and now my shade garden will have to be a sun garden.
I just about cry when I look out my window and see the mess. Will take time to get wood cut and debris cleared.
Thank the Lord, none hit my memorial shed or memorial garden I planted last summer!!
But guess I'll be looking at garden design ideas and start a new area, and different plants to it.
Ok, nurseries, watch out here I come!!!! LOL

I feel for you Doxies! We had to have our septic field redone last week and they brought in a back hoe! The company was so concerned about my garden beds though, I couldn't believe it. They actually designed the field so as not to have to dig in my gardens, just amazing! They gave me the opportunity to even move my plant tags out of the way of the piles of dirt. I have a feeling that I didn't lose a single plant, but boy should you see my yard. Everywhere there used to be lawn is now mud. 'course, now I'm thinking it can mostly be turned into garden beds. whooohooo! lemonade from lemons afterall.

Oh, Doxies, that is a lot of trees and very sad that you lost some treasured plants - I'm so sorry! Keep us posted on how it turns out . . . maybe you'll end up being pleased with your new sun garden? Be sure to take pictures of the 'transformation.'

I love your summer shed...so cute!! Glad to hear that the trees missed it. Too bad for that azalea, however.

It must be absolutely crushing to have lost so many trees. But clearly, you're poised to remain positive and use this as an opportunity to redefine your garden spaces. That's a wonderful outlook to have! Do capture your progress in pictures, as Murmur suggested .... we'd all love to see them!

So sad to hear of the loss of 14 trees! What an impact that storm had on your yard! you've got the right attitude, though. You'll have a blast re-doing the garden areas! Plus, behind every fallen tree is an opportunity to plant another tree! Now you can start looking at all the cool japanese maples, etc. that grow well in this area and add such distinction to our yards. I am glad the fallen chunks missed your shed. It's darling!

Hi!!
Thanks for the lovely comments!
Here's another pic. of the new pathway and part of new memorial garden. The memorial shed has very special meaning.
I lost my Daughter, her boyfriend and 4 yr. old son 9 & 1/2 yrs ago. They were over by Mt. Baker with uncle of boyfriend in uncles truck, when freak windstorm blew tree from forest onto the truck killing them all.The colors on the shed are each ones favorite color, the stepping stones we all had made together a month before they were killed.
My Daughter would be 37 today and it's still hard but I know the tears are diamonds of healing, so I let them flow. Than I look for a rainbow, and know they're safe in God's arms and I will see them again.
I hope I haven't offended anyone by writing this. I just need to tell at times.
Take care,
Kathy

Kathy, you should always feel free to share such a thing - I send you hugs, along with my admiration for how you have handled such a devastating thing. Wish we lived just a hair closer so we could talk about it in person, maybe over a cup of coffee or tea. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Kathy}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Kathy, tell and tell again! To live through that kind of loss.....words cannot express it I know. My heart is with you tonight.
