Dehydrated Worms

Marlton, NJ

Hi, Does anyone have experience or success with these? I tried them for the first time this afternoon and the Carolina Wren acted like I put garbage in his dish. He is used to live worms but they are fairly expensive just to buy for one type of bird. I know in Spring more types will eat live worms since they'll have kiddies to feed. Thank You!

Helen, I buy tons of mealies this time of year for the blues, mockers and warblers. I dont buy them in the spring since theres plenty of bugs for them to feast on. I get them from www.reptilefood.com. Ends up costing me about $40 every 2 weeks, for 5000 worms, but it seems to be about right for here. I guess that doesnt answer your questions, except to say that Im sure my blues would give me "that look" if I tried to put dried worms out there.

pelle-- don't know too much about meal worms, but I will say that our Carolina Wrens eat suet that probably has a few dried meal worms mixed into it.

Thanks Tabasco, Yes I buy an insect suet that has mealies inside.
