My garden retrospect '06
WOW beautiful gardens....
Just gorgeous! I want my garden to look just like that in 2007:) Now I am really looking forward to spring, bring it on.......
Happy New Year!
Bea
sanannie--as usual, your gardens take my breath away!
What a joy to see this grey New Year's morning with visions of the springtime in my head!
Happy New Year! t.
Absolutely wonderful garden, and fabulous pics! Sanannie, you are a true artist.
What a beautiful property, sanannie..........lovely photos................Elaine
Wonderful pictures, I wish spring would hurry up , I feel the need to get dirt under my finger nails. Also drive my family crazy with new garden plans.

You guys say the nicest things! Now that the holidays are over and the new year has begun..... let's think spring! Actually, it's very spring-like here today. We are melting like crazy and it's +8C.
Hmmm...things are going to start growing...and then we'll get a hard frost....and the plants will get frostbite... some will die ... Ok, lets rethink this. How about we get one more month in, and then we can think spring, 'kay?
Sandy
Echoes,
Maybe Sandy has more snow than we do in Ottawa, but I dare say we'd like to have some of that snow you have.
My New Years resolution is to take the 1 hour trek from my house to Sandy's at least a couple of times in 2007 - maybe once a month - to check out her garden in person.
Ann
Wow Sandy, that is quite the garden! I'm speechless! That Cimicifuga is on my want list! And the hot border is indeed HOT!
Thanks....! Ah, now I see, when you post pics at this time of year, they look WAY better than a few months prior! lol
Holy smokes, echoes, how are you gonna get out for groceries? My Mom had just mentioned today that Winnipeg area had a big dump of snow... that's putting it mildly!
Ann, well, there's not much snow left after today, that's for sure. And you know you can come visit anytime... but you are a busy lady and I think you'll have to retire from retirement before you have enough time to get out here 'for kicks' once a month! LOL
Todd, that Cimicifuga is only it's first season and small enough to still take good pics, yet I was impressed with it too. I planted a couple of Astrantia 'Ruby Wedding' underneath which is a really nice combo, but no matter how I tried I couldn't get a good pic of the two together.

Absolutely stunning gardens Sandy. You're about to become one of my inspirations ;-)
Holy cow Brenda! Looks like you have enough snow there to share with the whole country!
I'm a little worried still about my spring bulbs that are happily thinking it's spring and poking their little heads up through the dirt. Yet the weather forecast is for the temps to keep going up this week until we hit a high of around 7 or 8 by Friday. I just know we're going to get hit hard when we least expect it :-( I just finished most of my winter sowing this past weekend - 46 little bottles and jugs are sitting outside - and now I'm already starting to worry about them beginning to sprout too soon and getting nipped when the inevitable cold and snow returns. I could never be a cash cropper. The uncertainty of the weather would drive me absolutely insane!

Ta brugscrazy and Ginny.
Ginny, maybe echoes will send you some of her snow to bury your winter sowing jugs in! I haven't got mine done yet and I'm thinking it's just as well with all this mild weather.
Sandy
Your garden is fab! It's just the kind of place I imagine when listening to meditation cd's... Congrats.
Thanks for the compliment, RedK. I remember you were looking for some mail order iris not too long ago. I hope you found them!
Sandy
Sanannie!
My gosh...that is one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen! You have such an artistic eye for design. I am so inspired and I hope you continue to post more pictures. Do you have problems with deer at all?
Sue
Sandy I've not looked at anyone's comments (Just your wonderful pics :) but in case no one's mentioned it before, I'm moving in and hopefully I'm first on the list. Ü
Hi Sue. you're too kind with your praise but I'll thank you all the same. Our dog seems to keep the deer away and we have no problems with them. The one time we were between dogs we had numerous deer, rabbits, raccoons and bears pay us a visit! How did your rhoddies grow this year?
Pam, Ok I always wanted a Lilypon. lol
Sandy
Hi Sandy
My Rhodies did fairly well. I have a yellow Bayport Rhodie (Captain Steele's) that struggles but still manages to put out some pretty yellow blooms. It does look a little bedragled in the leaf department though. I have numerous tissue cultures that seem to be doing well even though I never protect them...only have lost one. I'm not much of a coddler...every man for himself! Thank goodness the dogs keep the critters away!
Take care and again, your property is truly gorgeous!
Sue
Sandy............. Oh my..... your garden is absolutely breath taking! To have a yard like that is to die for. You have done a superb job of all your plantings. Did it take you many years to put it all together? You are so lucky to have so much space to decorate.
You must show us this again when spring brings it all back.
Bea
