Sansevieria bloom ???

Key West, FL(Zone 11)

I have a dry area in the garden filled with what i believe are all Sansevierias doing their thing. I just noticed that they were blooming. It was quite a suprise as I never knew they had it in them to bloom and they've never done it before. Its amazing how some things thrive on neglect. My favourite type of plants.

that is so cool...thank you

I'm anxiously waiting for some of mine to do that too.
I have a nice selection of these plants due to the fact that I met a local man who is an authority on sansevieria, and he has given me quite a few starts.

Very interesting. Never saw a Sanseviera flower before. Thanks for posting,

Hetty
Whats the story with the blooms? Do they have to be a certain age or is it particular conditios that bring out the blooms?

I believe you can start then by cutting the tips and planting them but I havent tried it yet , just dont have the time to propagate stuff.

I remember having a Sansevria bloom many years ago and thinking that the flowers were gorgeous and very elegant. Thank you for sharing the picture.

I think they flower pretty quickly. I will ask my friend when he is back from his travels.
I do think you are right, celt, that they will grow from leaf tips, but that I will also verify with him.

They seem to bloom erratically but are always a welcome surprise. They also are fragrant.
