Tulips: too late?

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

I have some tulip bulbs that I have never got in the ground. Is is too late to plant them here in z7b? Could I store them in the fridge 'til next year?

THANKS for any help!

I'm no expert but in the south we have to store them in the frig until spring. I would think they would be fine if you keep them there for a six weeks cycle.

I've seen landscapers lift soil that was frozen and plant tulip bulbs under frozen soil. Tulips do fine. The foliage and flower bud is already inside the bulb. Keeping them until next planting season will probably mean that the foliage and flower has dried up too much to ever be a healthy bulb again. However it is Narcissus that are the bulbs that need to be in the ground earlier to form roots before the ground freezes.

If the ground is too frozen you could dig some nice deep holes and take the dirt into the house to warm up and then plant the tulips with the warm soil. IN any case whatever way you chose get them planted!

Thanks all for the help.
I'll get them planted asap. Here where I live the ground doesn't freeze so I'll have no problems getting them in the ground.
Thanks again!
