OTtime to vent

Okay today was the straw that broke the camels back at my bank. I am well past the point of being sick of all the stupid people on the planet wanting to get jobs handling our money!!

I have been banking with this bank now for at least 10 years. Up until recently the tellers have always been friendly and very knowledgeable about what their job within the bank is. Over the course of the past 6 months almost all of the old tellers have been replaced with new ones.

Being an account holder I can do all of my banking via the drive up window without having to go inside the bank(non account holders go inside). Well i'm not so sure that the new dingbat at the window even knows how to count money.

I have 2 seperate accounts within the same bank. This is also the bank that provided my loan to purchase my gh last year. So everypay day I go to the window with 2 deposit slips and once a month I have a third slip(my loan coupon). Today the loan payment wa due. It is also pay day but instead of depositing money in both accounts I only put it into one today.

I hand this lady a partial paycheck in the amount of $329.12. I give her a deposit slip in the amount of $151.00. I also gave her my loan coupon in the amount of $178.12. If she had any idea what she was even inside that bank for,she would have known to total up the $151.00 + the $178.12 and it would have given her the face value of the check which was $329.12.

Lord forgive me for calling this lady retarded but once again she comes back on the speaker as she has done many times over the past 6 months and asks me to please explain to her what it is that she is supposed to do with the slips that I just gave her!!

Now anyone working in a bank that actually knows what they are doing would have known that the $151.00 on the deposit slip goes into the account and teh balance of $178.12 is for the loan payment. I was one of about 9 cars in 2 lanes just sitting waiting on this idiot. While waiting for my turn I heard her ask the car next to me what she was supposed to do with their check etc.

TOday I just said I cant deal with this anymore. I'm going to call the main branch and file a complaint and demand that this lady learn what she is there to do or find someone who does know or I will be changing banks.

I just find it amazing that these are the kinds of people that we have running our financial institutions. I mean gimme a break!! If you have to ask me what you should be doing ,wouldnt it just make sense for me to get a job at the bank? After all I am telling you how to do your job!

I worked at a Savings & Loan for 5 1/2 years in the Mortgage Dept and I can tell you from experience, I Do Not Trust Banks! I know we are all human and we all make mistakes, but to some people it's just a job and they just don't care. I saw a lot of mistakes being made with a ho hum attitude ... And I wasn't even in the Banking end of that business. I heard stories from a young lady who came to the Loan Dept from the Banking side. As employees we had to have a checking or savings account in that bank for direct deposit of our paychecks and on payday I would go on my lunch hour and withdraw my pay and deposit in my husbands and my account at a different bank! I can truly understand the people who hide their money under the mattress! Although I would be afraid to do that - if by chance there was a fire it would be gone. It's just a shame that banks don't earn our trust more.

Many years ago, I would take an empty little "Crisco" shortening can, put my "mad money" in the can, with tissues on top and put it in the back of the frig! I thought if someone broke in and went to the frig for a snack, they surely wouldn't suspect money to be hiding in a can of Crisco! LOL And, the tissues made it look like the white shortening through the plastic lid!

Don't get me started on customer service, or I should say lack thereof. I have gone through drive thru's of fast food places where they've given me too much change and you talk about a hassle trying to explain it to them! Once I even asked for the manager, telling her that the cashier gave me $1 too much in change - I couldn't seem to get them to understand simple math! I even got a piece of paper and wrote it down and showed them! The mgr seemed reluctant to take the overpayment of the $1 .... sometimes I think I should have just driven off after not getting through to the cashier - luckily there were no cars behind me in line at the time! I tried and tried to explain to the cashier that her drawer would be short at the end of the day. Maybe they don't take it out of their pay, or they would be more concerned about the shortage. I only have a high school education and never attended college, but I learned at my very first job how to count money back to a customer to make sure they got the correct change and that I didn't shortchange my cash drawer!

An old friend, a career banker, told me once that "Anything a bank can screw up, it will". It's just the nature of the beast.....

Happy New Years!
