I cut my brugs the first week of Nov.,and put them in 5gal buckets with the airstones. They were the "Y"d tops. I stripped the leaves and buds. My Grandson has been taking care of them, watching the temp in the GH and keeping the water in the bubbler. I finally got to go out and really look things over. These things are going crazy, they are full of healthy leaves and there is even a spent flower on the floor, the root balls are larger than my doubled fists. My question is will they be ok in the bubbler till spring or should I pot them up.
Thanks John
brugs in bubbler
I've got a gob of cuttings outside in buckets and they are gonna stay there till spring..
One thing I see that makes me wonder is.... can you get the rootballs back through that piece of lattice holding them up on the bucket?
Your cuttings look like they are happy and very healthy to me!
Hey John hope you are feeling better Paul
Gee John, I have no experience so no real clue. But from reading in the past most do what Joyce is doing because they have no room. But if you have room I guess you could pot them up and they would get a head start if where you have them is warm enough to get them growing a bit. And Joyce has a good point with big rootballs you may have to break that lattice to get them out intact.
Your grandson is a doll taking care of your plants so well as you recover. What a nice young man!
Yes,I will have to take the lattice apart. There is no way those roots will go thru the holes. But that will be easy. And about my grandson, my wife and I are now raising him. He came to us to escape an abusive step guy. His name is Elmer he is 16 and all his life he has followed me around and now can do a lot more than most 25 year olds. It is just a big change to keep up with him and all his sports.
John
I am leaving mine in a bubbler as long as possible and I am zone5.
You will make a wonderful difference in your grandson's life!! I'm glad he had you and your wife!!

John, I'm surprised you are the only one that has run into the problem of getting them outta a bubbler because under the right conditions they will or can grow just as big as yours have and many put them in wire or other means of keeping them straight - I've never done that and i've never had any that didn't grow straight. If they happen to be slightly crooked, you can plant them straight & they are just fine. They will be fine in the bubbler until you have time or conditions ready to pot them up. Not always, but most of the time, in my limited experience, they are better off in the bubbler than potting up at this time of the year, without keeping the soil warm. I have better, quicker results by waiting until late Feb, March or later. It seems, they can stay in a 'cold' bubbler with zero problem but they do not seem to like 'cold' soil as well. Good luck, I hope you have super results, please keep us posted...
