Flowforms

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Hi,

I'm interested in installing a very small "flowform" in my garden (approx. 3 ft long), but am not finding many suppliers for the residential market here in the U.S. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I have fallen in love with the one in "Rodale's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening" (p. 71). I wish I could copy the picture here. It's gorgeous. There is a similar one on the cover of "Flowforms" by John Wilkes (2003). If you do a search in your web browser, you can take a look at that pic'.

Thanks for any tips you can throw my way.

I looked up "flowform" like you suggested. Some very cool pics! If you cannot find a supplier, couldn't you devise something pretty similar by looking at the close up pictures of how they work? I may be way off but they look pretty simple and if you pay attention to detail you could probably get pretty close.

I've been wondering the same thing. I've got a great book on how to make your own concrete garden objects, so that might be one way to do it. BUT, I don't think it would likely come out looking like the one in the Rodale's book - if you happen upon that book, you really ought to look it up.

Have you checked out the Hypertufa and Concrete threads they do a lot of interesting things and are very helpful. I haven’t seen the picture so I’m not sure what kind of look you want but I think the leaf molds could make an interesting flow fountain. Holly

I am interested in this also. Looks like a nice way to clean up your pond water. I would like to do in in concrete rock. Leaving the bowels in the service of the rock down a hill side and back into the pond plant filter. Or would the fake stream I have do the same thing. ???

I have a friend (from england), he had a waterfall installed for his wife, they are both very cool people & i like them very much but i do not agree w/ pumping water up a hill to be able to watch it flow back down the hill.

I like waterfalls but I would rather see a natural one than a man made one I was paying for sorry, how did this thread start again? Ok flow, sorta on topic.

Hmmm.... well, I'd just assume try to make my own rather than buy the pre-fab ones.
