this is not the recipe forum but I wanted to share 2 of my favorite holiday sweets recipes with you all!!
First one is for walnut pumpkin pie. Not your traditional pumpkin pie and its the only one that I ever make. I've had the recipe for some years and since getting it have never gone back to the old pie recipe.
1-deep dish pie shell
1-15oz can pumpkin
1-14oz can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1-egg
1 1/4 tsp-cinnamon
1/2 tsp each-salt,ginger,nutmeg
1/4C-packed brown sugar
2TBS-all purpose flour
2TBS-cold margarine/butter
3/4C-chopped walnuts
Heat oven to 425F. In mixing bowl combine pumpkin, condensed milk, egg 3/4tsp cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and salt.Mix well. Turn into pie shell and bake for 15 mins. Reduce oven temp to 350F and remove pie from oven.In a small bowl combine brown sugar, flour, and remaining 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.Cut in margarine until crumbly. Stir in walnuts and sprinkle mixture evenly over pie. Bake for 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Recipe #2--oatmeal lace cookies
2C-oats
2C-sugar (white)
2-sticks real butter (melted)
2-eggs
6TBS-all purpose flour
1/2tsp-salt
1/2tsp-baking powder
1tsp-vanilla
Mix all ingredients together well.
Preheat oven to 350F. Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil sprayed with nonstick spray. Drop by 1/2tsp full onto foil lined cookie sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes of until just browned lightly. Let cool completely before removing from foil.
Half a teaspoon doesnt sound like much batter, but trust me it spreads out when it gets hot and 1/2 is plenty!!! Any more than that and you'll have one giant cookie!!
Enjoy!!!!

I know
Both sound great, David...will have to try them!
Sounds really good, I have had the Walnut Pumpkin Pie befor and I must say it is really good. I think I just gained another pound reading your recipe's though.
That particular version of the recipe appeared on the inside of the label on a can of pumpkin that I bought at least 10-12 years ago and i've never seen it again since.
I'm glad I kept and tried it as it instantly became my favorite pumpkin pie recipe.
I love anything with pumpkin in it and should be imbarrased to say this but I have been known to sit down and eat a whole pie before. Of course that was 20 years ago,as i've gotten closer to 40 the eating habits have changed a lot. That middle age spread is not that easy to get rid of!!
I've got my mind made up though starting 01/01/07 things are gonna change. It's a bowl of special k for breakfast, ground chicken or turkey burger/patty & salad for lunch and dinner and nothing but water to drink.
I lost 26lbs like this a little over 2 years ago and was doing really good with sticking to it but then let a friend sucker me into going out for chinese one night and that did it!!! It wasnt like falling off the wagon it ws like being thrown off a building!! I put all 26 lbs. back on after that and it didnt take long to do!!
The only physical exercise I get is walking to and from the gh,so I think i'm gonna break out the rollerblades and start skating again also. I dont know what happened to me I used to be so active and then seems like I just fell into a lazy slump!! I think it's called the internet. I seem to remember before getting this computer was when I was so active. Now the only active thing on me is my fingers!!!
I'm looking at some really cool new skates that I think I might get to replace my old ones. The old set is 7 years old, I paid $150 for them and have skated on them maybe 4 times. I'll have to find the link for the new ones and post it here. Y'all wont beleive what they look like! Only 2 wheels per skate!

David, have you tried the pumkin roll recipe? Oh my gosh, it is soooo good. You fill it with cream cheese and some nuts, and roll that baby up, and oh my. Another pound!!! I swear I am going to get rid of all these goodies around here. I could never rollerskate, but I can iceskate, go figure.. I get plenty of exercise, I free swim for an hour and then do water aerobics for an hour, plus walk my dog for a mile almost every day. And I am still overweight. Like you I plan to go on a very strict diet, of only good foods, right after I get done eating all the M&M's around here. :) Do ya want to have a contest, winner takes their favorite hoya :) Only I am not telling you how much I am overweight ...
I have tried the pumkin roll. Just didnt get around to making one this year. Got the recipe from the same person who gave me the lace cookie recipe.
Tha's funny you can iceskate but cant rollerskate and i'm just the opposite. I was told that if you could inline skate that you can iceskate. I am here to tell you NOT SO!!!!
The city of Myrtle Beach used to use the lower level of the high rise parking deck for the pavilion amusement park as an indoor iceskating rink. I tried it several times and spent more time on my back and face on the ice than I did on my feet. So I am a firm believer and living proof that if you know how to inline skate it doenst exactly mean that you will know how to iceskate!!
