Nidularium Update

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

I moved my nidulariums together in a little cluster under the palmetto, and they seem to be happy there. Well, I was showing them off to the family and I noticed one looked really different from when I bought it. At first, I thought I was just confused and forgot where I had moved them, but then I looked at the tag and sure enough, I was right. Here's a picture of Nidularium "Oddball" when I bought it:

Here's what it looks like now! I have them in shade (again, under a huge palmetto) and so I thought they wouldn't turn colors like some of my bromeliads, but I guess I was wrong. I just think these are so cool. My Nidularium "Sao Paulo" already pupped for me; can't wait to have more of this one!

Looks like Nidularium scheremetiewii - it's a variable plant but not many flowers have that beautiful shade of blue.

MellieLong, nice Christmas colors, red and green are my favorite winter colors.

Here is one over at the USF Bot Garden that seems to have colored up for the winter season.
