I'm in the market for bulbs...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm looking for bulbs... lilies/liliums... any kind or type. Where is the best place to get them?

Thanks,
Donna

Did you try looking up Lilium in the Plant Files? At the top of each entry, there are some listings of vendors. That would be an easy way to find pics and names then follow the link to those that sell them.

I've bought them from both Brent & Becky's and Bloomingbulb.

Badseed,

Yeah, I know you can do that. I just wanted to hear it from you guys who has the best prices, selection and quality. I get a lot of good info by asking on the forums. So I figured I'd ask here first.

Thanks,
Donna

BuggyCrazy, her bulbs are the biggest and best.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

defoecat is right...Buggycrazy has the biggest bulbs ANYWHERE! They are healthy and you know they will bloom this year, no waiting. Brent & Becky would be my second choice.

Thanks for the input guys!!

I like John Scheeper's for spring-blooming bulbs. They are a little cheaper than Brent & Becky, too. However, they do not carry summer bulbs such as glads, cannas, etc. as yet.

I'm very hopeful about Blooming Bulb's products, since we've ordered about 4000 bulbs from them (co-op). Their prices seem very good and some things have free shipping.

American Meadows is having a sale now.

Both have good Watchdog ratings, but I've no experience with either.

Dumb question, what's "co-op" mean?

Donna,

I went to Lowe's this morning, and they have cleared most of the Christmas merchandise. There was a huge stand filled with all kinds of spring bulbs.

The other stores in the Gulf coast Area should start seeing more bulbs as soon as the Christmas items are cleared. It happens every year!

Have FUN!

Cool... thanks! I do like to see the actual bulb before buying.

Chicago, IL

I was mighty tempted at HD yesterday. The spring bulbs were half price. I only saw Daffodils. The bulbs looked very good, not mushy at all. Some are sprouting a bit.

I need more bulbs like I need a hole in my head. :-)

I've gotten some liliums from Lowes and HD. Not much of a variety imho. I'm looking for sort of hard to get bulbs like for Tiger Lilies, Easter Lilie... etc...

The Lily Garden has a nice selection http://www.thelilygarden.com/
A co-op is a group purchase through this forum http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/groupbuy/all/
There was a co-op for Brent and Becky's http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/611540/
Bulbmeister http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/625194/
Blooming Bulb http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/672627/ and others.

Many suppliers had their bulbs discounted in Nov & Dec (end of sale season) I think American Meadows still has some http://www.americanmeadows.com/springbulbs.cfm#C.Lilies
