While searching for pretty Hibiscus seeds...

Hollywood, FL(Zone 10b)

I came across this 'Mahoe' auction for seeds.
I'm no expert, but look at the Photoshopping done to the second pic in the auction...

LOL

I did want to know if seeds from a variety such as this even come true from seed? The one pictured doesn't resemble any "Mahoe"s that I've found anywhere...

(Search for Mahoe Hibiscus seeds... the link above just won't work, no matter what I do...)

Gina,
the pic is a tropical hibiscus not any mahoe that exists. definately the second pic is the same flower duplicated over and over, and pasted on a hardy hibiscus plant.Amazing what people will do to sell on Ebay.

You have to laugh at the bold attempt at floriferousness in the second photo. Such perfection in duplicate, duplicate, duplicate...

I keep an eye on the Brugmansia ads as well. I can't tell you how many times I've come across really deep, dark, almost purple Brugmansia...and you see a garden hose in the backround that is luminous blue and on top of blue grass (I don't mean Kentucky Blue Grass either - I mean BLUE grass).

I once saw a photo of a really orangy Brugmansia flower thriving beneath a brown sky with orange clouds.

...as artwork goes, it's the kind of expertise that would drive Vincent to do away with the other ear out of sheer frustration.

"Such perfection in duplicate, duplicate, duplicate..."

LOL, that's exactly it.

If I hadn't known better, I would want to bid on those seeds, too! Sometimes, when I can, I drop hints in the prospective buyers' ears, or even report an auction to eBay and get it closed... but since the seller's other auctions were legit (the correct Hib, i.e.), I didn't feel sure enough that I was right about this particular auction being all wrong...

Read his response to some negative feedback; it's on page 8. He sounds like a real winner and I can't believe he has only had one unhappy customer.

You are so right! I don't know how he has gone sooo long with only one unsatisfied customer when he refers to others as "DUM DUM", or just plain "DUM".

I wonder if the unsatisfied woman had bid on seeds from this "Mahoe", for instance... since such a beauty would get more bids, he may be willing to take the negative feedback in exchange for more money. Especially since he probably keeps up on his legit trades, so his negative feedback only puts him at 99% positive... and I've seen more negative feedback given to honest traders.

***This auction ends in 3 hours, so anyone who sees this post 3 hours after my posting time won't see the flower... but I saved the image in case anyone would like to see it, and/or ID it.***
