Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Mobile, AL

To me, Amaryllis and Christmas go hand in hand.

I don't know how I would do without them this time of the year.

If I were a poet, I would write a wonderful poem, but I'm not, so you will appreciate the fact that I don't try, hee, hee...

Anyways, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to ALL!

Same to you and yours! I am growing my very first Amaryllis as we speak. Can't believe how fast they grow. Then came home from work one day and one of the leaves was laying completely over. Had no idea what happened. Then a couple days later, it was standing straight up again. Weird! Anyhow, have no idea when it will bloom, but can't wait to see it bloom. It came as a little kit with the container, soil and bulb. Pretty cool.
Merry Christmas!

You mentioned a poem! When people mention a poem I just have to knock one up, here's a simple 2 minute job, for a bit of fun!

I wish for flowers Merry
In season of red berries
Xmas spirit on the menu
Do tell the venue

Where all shall have fun
With presents galore
I wish for Hippeastrum
A flower to adore!

Merry Xmas!

For Christmas day, I'll have 'Lima' and 'Emerald' in flower. I don't try timing them, it just happened.

Season's Best to everyone!

Robert, I hope you will find time tomorrow to post pics!

On Christmas day, I'll have what I believe to be a red Ferrari, a white NOID with a tiny tinge of pink in a few of the veins and Vera is showing her pretty pink colors. There is a remote possibility (the heater is turned on) that Pink Diamond will possibly be opened.

I have LOTS of buds showing and discovered this morning that Ruby Meyer (I hope that is true) has a tiny tip of the bud showing. Looks like most of mine will arrive starting the New Year.

Robert, I can't wait to see if your Lima and Emerald cross successfully!

Here is Vera! Since I am new to Dave's Garden, perhaps someone could point me in the right direction as to how to post this on Plant Files. I do not see a picture of it or am I looking in the wrong place?

This was a boxed hippeastrum from Home Depot this year.

Very pretty!

There is an entry but no pic. I left the search details for you to look at. You would go to PlantFiles on tab at the top, then click on the green bar to search for a plant.

You can search by Common name, i ususally do it by Genus and species or cultivar name. On the very odd occasion for some reason it won't find it, if you just earch for the genus you can go through the whole list. Even then I have not found one at times, and found it when googling!

Click on the entry, then scroll to the bottom where it will have a place to click for adding your photo, also for making a comment.

You can add a plant if it's not there buy using the 'add a plant' tab on that page.

Happy holidays everyone! I don't look forward to Christmas as I have no family here, so I usually spend the day alone. I should have several flowers waiting for me when I get back to work on Tuesday, including Vera. She's gorgeous! Can't wait to see mine.

Merry Christmas everyone - to all who are with family or not as the case may be. A very special Merry Christmas to my dear sister Sue (Knipophia) who will be on her own, you are here with me in my heart!
