Is leather furniture practical?

Do any of you with cats and dogs have leather furniture? I would like to get a couple of leather chairs on sale after Christmas but I'm not sure how Jolly and KittyMoose would treat them. Do cats scratch on them? Do dogs chew on them? Thanks.
