Weight Loss Challange Dec. 23 - 30

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

Chuck, nothing short of antiChristian thoughts or behaviours are considered off limits. If it works for you, go for it. Mention it here too as it just might be what someone else needs to hear and try. We are all for variety and personal success.

Anyone, everyone, PLEASE, correct my spelling when you see a mistake. I use to be a very good speller, but not anymore. Typing errors are a big problem for me. I usually catch them or you wouldn't be able to figure out most of what I post. LOL

Eating was good for me until about 8:30 pm yesterday when there was candy sitting out at the cafe' and then when I got home and took my Restoril the eating monster took over. I think I had ham at home tho. I did get my 64 oz. of water in tho. I take my own water to work with me. The water over there seems to irritate the leukoplakia. Too much chlorine in it I think. I filter our well water as it has a lot of sulfur in it. The kids seem to think it has to do with the water lines in our house as it isn't as bad at Holly & Kyle's place where all the lines are new. Ours from the well to the house were put in place in about '87 or so & I thought they are PVC too but maybe not. The old in house lines definately aren't. The Pur filter on the cabinet may take up a lot of space but it makes drinking our own water possible for me. Even Jack never drank unflavored water here at home. He always had ice tea, coffee, coolaid, etc. or bought pop. We also have what is called invisible red rust in our water. You don't see it until it sets awhile or a faucet drips then the rust is very evident. It may have had something to do with his liver problem. He had hemochromotosis for those who are new. It is a high iron level in the blood. Only 2 ways to get it - inherit it from parents or over treatment of anemia. Since his father and grandfather both had and died of liver problems we think they had it too. But the iron in the water may have had more to do with it than we realized all these years. I did stop cooking with cast iron when we learned he had it. The only known treatment is to take off a pint of blood periodically as a blood test indicates it is needed. You have to have a test done for Feritin(?), a specific type of iron in the blood.

The weather here is nice for this time of the year. Clear, tho fog is predicted, and just crisp enough to make one wear a nice heavy jacket and sweat pants. But I am ever so thankful for a warm home, a roof that doesn't leak, windows that actually block cold air, etc. So many do not have the so called 'basic neccessities'.

I'm waiting for the new computer security company to call me back. There is something that keeps popping up that Sheila & I don't understand. I have some phone calls to make but they will have to wait until after that call from the company.

Our oldest son and his wife should be on the way here any time now. It's an hour and a half drive for them on a section of 65 highway that I consider unsafe. There is another route here that would add about 40 miles to the trip that I like better but they won't take it. That road is mostly straight, flat, and 4 lane. It is the only route I will take at night especially

We had 81 at the cafe' last night. Very good for this time of the year. We had a skeleton staff but made it ok. They have started using the salad bar on Friday and Saturday nights and that helps quite a bit. It lets the people get their own salads freeing the waitress to take more orders, etc. The person who use to make salads now delivers orders and keeps the salad bar stocked. My job hasn't changed a bit. LOL. They had sewer problems all last week and weekend so there were dishes piled up from that much of that time for me when I went in yesterday. I got most of them done but still had a whole bus tray of bowls left when I had to start manning the steam table at supper hour.

Pebble, how is the shop coming along? I think Alex should be there by now? I don't suppose he could have brought some smoked turkey with him could he? That would have been nice for you. And I imagine that ham would bring the house down on you and your family so to speak in Turkey. Religious beliefs, etc. What kinds of meats do they eat besides lamb? Goat/Chevron? Fish? Our family has gotten past the need for large meals on Christmas. It just adds so much work to a day when we should be spending time with family. Those meals are a terrible problem for those of us who are trying to stay away from bad carbs and fats. Of course the snack foods, candies, etc. aren't any help either.

I need to get started on some laundry. I wish that tech rep from the computer security company would hurry up and call so I can go outside and let the birds out and take care of their needs. I'll have Sheila take me to work this afternoon then go into Marshall for E85 fuel and to get some sausage, & frozen orange juice for the traditional breakast. Don't know if Holly and Kyle will join us for that or not. I do know they are going to be with her family for the day so they may leave very early in the morning. We want to leave early too to be with Kris and her family for the day.

GOD bless and keep each of you. Remember, a healthy body brings glory to JESUS and we have a responsibility to do what we can to keep it healthy. We can't prevent or correct some things on our own, but we do need to judge ourselves carefully to be sure we are doing the best we can to stay healthy and glorify GOD.
