Looking for suggestions for red, white, and blue theme

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Howdy Folks!

I'm trying to come up with some ideas for a red, white and blue flower bed. One of my friends has the afternoon sun beaming in his office window and we were thinking of growing some moonvines in front to help block the sun. (That covers the "white" department!)

I was also thinking of growing some cardinal vine on the same trellis to give it the 'red' I'm looking for. Or perhaps I could plant some bright red hardy hibiscus bushes there, too.

I can't for the life of me think of a great "blue" plant other than a morning glory (and those don't really seem to be a true blue) plus I don't want to go overboard with vines.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for "blue"? If not a vine then a bush/shrub, ground cover or the like.

Sure would appreciate any input, comments or words of encouragement!

PS...the site gets full sun most of the day and is up against a building, fairly well protected from excessive winds.
