Hello all,
I am a newbie here, and I was looking for an Alpinia Vittata. I usually am aroung the Banana forums, but since I found this site, I have become interested in Gingers. Thanks! I hope to hear from you all!

Anyone have Alpinia Vittata?
Hi Taylor, welcome to the forum. We grow vittata here at our nursery but because it is sooo sensitive to cold temperatures we keep that one in the greenhouse. It truly is a zone 10+ ginger. We keep close to 200 varieties outside year round but, that is not one of them :( I wish it was a little more cold tolerant. We had friends lose one inside of their unheated garage in Deland Florida which is about an hour south-east of us here in northern Marion county.
Hey,
Thanks for the greeting!
I am sad to hear that it is a 10+ ginger. That would be just one more plant I would have to overwinter. =[ Maybe I will wait until spring and try to get one. If you are having troubles with it in Florida, that is not a good sign for us Zone 8a people. The ginger just looks so pretty.
Thanks for your information,
Are there any other Variegated gingers that are relatively inexpensive?
I have tried Alpinia Zerumbet "Variegata", with no luck, so I would be willing to try that again, along with a different Var. Ginger if any of you guys have it.
Thanks Again birdlady_liz

Hey,
my email is [e-mail:thisistaylor@gmail.com],
That is one AMAZING Ginger! Do you have any seeds or rhizome for sale? I have tons of seeds of other tropicals, but since I am new, I don't have any Ginger seeds. Thanks! I hope to hear from you!
