Mark .. sent me one with a seed trade. It really neat. It called Common Butterflies and skippers of Ohio. Nw pulication in partenership with the Ohio Lepidopterists. It about 50 pages long.
Sevral beautiful pics of each of the butterflies and some with their spring and fall form and larve. Has the wing span.. habitat... flight period.... .. and then a real nice narative about each species, and some of its habits and host and larvel plants.
Nice or aduls and children both. I have been totally enjoying mine and reading it and findign out some interesting tidbits and facts.
Sounds good to me...I can always use any book that shows caterpillars.

I do the same thing. I always forget to check the update link and then will spend days hunting back for conversations I was taking part in. : )
I was looking at the pics of a Baltimore Checkerspot. it rally col. Shows pics of the male and female , chrysalis and mature larva. The neat thign is the pic of the young larvae. They all ina mass feeding in a silk nest. I didn't know butterflies coudl do that, so now, before I knock out any webs, I wil check to se e what alive in there. Would hate to think I gettoing rid of a few spider webs when in reality I killing butterfly larvae.

Yes, this little booklet is great! If you live in this region it is the best most readable source for learning about local butterflies I have found! ( I got mine from the park ranger here)
