I'm sure Brian knows this one! Anyone know the name of it? We saw it at the Conservatory of Flowers in SFO. But alas, they dont put name tags on many of their plants! Grrrr.
ID help - Please!
That's awesome... what type of paint should I use to imitate those effects? LOL... I have a whole lot of peace lillies I can "spruce up" with a little paint job.
Lali...see your post on the ID forum...I think it's a Palisota and I've wanted one FOREVER!!!!
It is Palisota pynaetii Var. Elizabethae from South Africa.
Do I win???? LOL
Kyle :-)
Woo HOO! Way to go Kyle! (waving pom poms around!)
Thanks everyone! Nan, if I find one, you're the first to know! (and of course I'll buy one for me and one for you!!!)
and p.s. need to chat with you about my Cissus amazonica... (sad face!) We had 22º and most everything on my porch did fine but it's toast! (wailing with crocodile tears!)
Nice plant I have a form of this but it has no white in the center of the leaves. Very beautiful. Begoniacrazii have you ever seen begnoia bognorii? It is a epiphytic begonia with grass like leaves very odd. But I have never seen it availible. I have meet the botanist Joseph Bognor and I find this plant very interesting I figure two reasons to get it at least LOL.
Hi Brian! I sure have seen one. I either saw it at the Miami show in Feb/March this year or at a local show. It is beyond cool. Please do let me know if you find one. For any one wanting to see what a diverse plant the Begonia is, take a look at Julie's photo of B. bognori (spelling is different on Dave's) http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/104577/
I double checked Mark Tebbitt's book and it is spelled Bogneri there as well. I think a friend of mine grows it. I'll have to ask him. It's possible that seed is available through the ABS?
That is it I probably misspelled it. That was off the top of my head. I try to stay away from some groups of plants because I am sure to get addicted to them and then I would be in really bad trouble. I had seen the plant once growing as a epiphyte on tree. It looks very interesting much like a odd fern it is one that most people would not think is a begonia. The other I grow is Begonia Exotica I could not say no to that plant. LOL
Indeed! I was just chatting it up about this one over in begonias (go have a look as some of the weirdos that I love to grow, or >cough< TRY to grow!)

You might like to grow B. attenuata (B. lanceolata) - I believe you can attach it like a staghorn to a board - the one I grow is in a plastic strawberry basket in pure sphag. It has a nice leaf shape too.
