Meatballs

On the banks of the , VA(Zone 7a)

My Dad baked them, after rolling them in flour. My Mom puts hers in the crock pot, raw. Egg? No egg? Milk? No milk?

I have always browned them, then put the lid on, gotten the temp up, and then put them in the sauce near the end, just to warm through.

I use this recipe and like it...

2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup fine fresh bread crumbs
1/2 cup whole milk
1 1/2 lb ground meat
1 medium onion, coarsely grated
5 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1/4 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil

With clean hands mix first 8 ingredients. Brown in vegetable oil on medium heat till cooked through. Goes well with sauce or gravy.

I love my crock pot in the winter time.
